Major Riverside Car Accident 60 Freeway, Rubidoux Blvd (Jan. 23)

RIVERSIDE, Calif., (January 23, 2026) — A major car accident happened on Friday involving multiple vehicles on the eastbound 60 Freeway, just east of Rubidoux Boulevard in Riverside.

The traffic accident involved possible major injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

The collision, which occurred on January 23rd at 2:39 p.m., involved a black Hyundai Ioniq and two additional vehicles, including a white sedan. The vehicles were reportedly blocking lanes #2 and #3, causing significant traffic disruption in the area. The California Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene alongside the CHP.

According to the CHP incident log, the parents of a driver involved in the crash called to report the incident. The drivers were seen out of their vehicles in the traffic lanes, and efforts were made by the Freeway Service Patrol to relocate the vehicles to the right-hand side of the road.

Emergency units were en route and arrived by 3:17 p.m. to provide assistance to those involved in the crash. It is not clear at this time the extent of the injuries suffered by the individuals involved.

The collision remains under investigation by the CHP, who are urging any witnesses to come forward with information to assist in determining the cause of the accident.
