Sri Lanka Woman Killed in Lompoc Crash ID’d
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 20, 2018) — Malani Suduhakure, 55, of Sri Lanka, has been identified as the pedestrian who died on Dec. 7 in a car accident in the 300 block of West Cypress Avenue.
The woman was among a group of four people struck by a vehicle at 5:10 p.m. The others who were injured suffered moderate injuries and survived the crash. All four people were hospitalized and Suduhakure was the only one who died.
Police investigating the crash say they do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors.

At this time, it is unknown what led to this collision. Typically, pedestrians have the right-of-way in a marked or unmarked crosswalk. Police will seek to find out how fast the driver was traveling or if there were any distractions.
It’s unknown at this time whether or not any criminal charges will be brought against the driver.
