Salinas Fatal Crash at US 101 and Spence Road
1 Dead, 6 Injured in July 16th Crash Sunday in Salinas
SALINAS (July 19, 2017)- According to KION 56 News, a deadly crash involving two vehicles was reported Sunday, July 16, at the cross roads of US 101 and Spence Road.
Authorities were notified of the accident at 2:30 p.m. between a Honda and a Ford Mustang.
The driver of the Honda who remains unidentified made an illegal turn directly in front of the oncoming Ford Mustang triggering a crash. The impact left one of the passengers in the Mustang, a 54-year-old Salinas man, with fatal injuries. A total of four other passengers in the Honda were injured and taken to Natividad Medical Center.
Meanwhile, the driver and passenger in the Mustang, both from Austrailia, were injured and also taken to Natividad Medical Center in unknown condition.
None of the involved parties have been identified by name.
No further details have been released at this time while California Highway Patrol officials investigate.
Based on this news report, it appears as though the driver of the Honda will be held responsible for causing the fatal accident. There are still several unanswered questions here. Was the driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Was the driver negligent in any other way? For this particular incident where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, family member of the deceased victim and all injured parties have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit or a personal injury claim against the liable driver seeking compensation for damages including medical expenses, funeral costs, lost future income and loss of love and companionship.
