NATIONAL CITY, California (February 13, 2017) – An 81-year-old male pedestrian identified as Robert Gustafson suffered fatal injuries following a hit-and-run collision on Fourth Street Monday evening, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The incident was reported about 6:50 p.m. near Euclid Avenue. Gustafson was walking his dog in the area when he was struck by the motorist.
As per the article, National City police said Gustafson was found lying in the eastbound lane of Fourth Street. He was hit near his home.
The 81-year-old National City man was then immediately transported to the hospital with injuries described as life-threatening, where he sadly died about two hours later at the hospital.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to render aid and fled the scene.
