88-Year-Old Man in Grave Condition, 6-Year-Old Girl Hurt
WILMINGTON, California (May 21, 2016) – An elderly man was critically injured and his granddaughter was also hospitalized after being struck on Friday night, according to The Press-Telegram. (map)
The collision took place at the intersection of Anaheim Street and Bay View Avenue at 8:25 p.m.
As per the article, Los Angeles police said the 88-year-old man and a 6-year-old girl were walking in a crosswalk when they were hit by a car. Both were immediately taken to the hospital.
The older victim was listed in grave condition and underwent a surgery early Saturday while his grandchild was in stable condition.
Meanwhile, police added that the driver apparently did not see the two pedestrians in the crosswalk at the time. He reportedly remained at the scene following the accident and cooperated with the authorities.
Speed appeared to have played a role in the incident which is still under investigation.
