CLOVIS, California (November 20, 2016) – A man was killed after being struck in the area of Herndon and Academy avenues on Saturday night, according to The Fresno Bee.
The collision was reported shortly after 5 p.m.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said a 70-year-old Clovis man was crossing Herndon Avenue back to his home after getting his mail when he was hit by a Pontiac.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead following the accident. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP added that the car was headed east approaching Academy Avenue when the crash occurred. Its driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
A report by ABC 30 said the motorist sustained minor injuries from shattered glass but was not hospitalized.
Drugs or alcohol did not appear to have played a role in the incident which remains under investigation.
