The collision involving a pedestrian took place about 9:45 p.m.
As per The Sacramento Bee, a 59-year-old man was struck by a vehicle on Old Auburn Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver involved remained in the area of the crash and cooperated with the police.
Citrus Heights police said speed or intoxication did not appear to have played a role in the incident which remains under investigation.
