Man in Wheelchair Killed in Crash at Long Beach Boulevard and 27th Street
LONG BEACH, CA (November 25, 2022) – A crash at Long Beach Boulevard and 27th Street killed a man in a wheelchair in Long Beach.
According to the KTLA News and Long Beach Post, the tragic accident took place early Thursday. Officers reported the collision on November 24 at round 12:42 a.m.
The incident happened when the man in a wheelchair was crossing Long Beach Boulevard at 27th Street. At the same time, a 2017 Toyota Camry was going north on Long Beach Boulevard.
Pedestrian Hit by Car
Police said for an unknown reason, the car struck the pedestrian in a marked crosswalk. Paramedics arrived and then found the victim who sustained critical injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel soon pronounced the patient dead at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police added that the driver of the Toyota stopped and stayed at the site following the incident. The cause of the fatal wheelchair crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced the area of Long Beach Boulevard and 27th Street to shut down for a time after the accident.
