Man in Wheelchair Killed While Crossing Fullerton Street

FULLERTON, Calif. (March 14, 2025) – A man in a wheelchair was struck and killed Thursday night while crossing West Commonwealth Avenue at Library Lane in Fullerton.

The deadly collision occurred around 10:50 p.m. on March 13th, according to the Fullerton Police Department.

Responding police tried to save the man before the arrival of Fullerton Fire Department paramedics who took over life-saving measures, however, they were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators working on the case determined the man in the wheelchair had been attempting to cross northbound at the intersection. The traffic signal was red when he was hit by a westbound gray Hyundai on Commonwealth, police said.

The 41-year-old Fullerton man driving the Hyundai stopped his vehicle and cooperated with authorities on scene.

During the investigation, police did determine the pedestrian had alcohol with him, but it’s unknown if the man had been drinking at the time of the fatal crash.
