The accident was reported about 12:30 a.m. near Alamos Avenue.
As per the article, Sacramento police officers responded to a call about a man who was shot and found lying in the road. However, it was determined that the victim was left with severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle.
The pedestrian died at the scene. His name has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver involved did not stop to render aid and fled the area. The suspect car was described as a white pickup or sport-utility vehicle with possible front-end damage and a missing headlight.
