Man on Motorized Bicycle Killed in Bakersfield Car Accident

Man on Motorized Bicycle Killed in Bakersfield Car Accident

Driver Hits Victim at Brundage Lane and A Street

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 4, 2026) — A man riding a motorized bicycle was killed Wednesday evening in central Bakersfield after a collision with a vehicle at an intersection, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Police said the crash occurred at approximately 7:59 p.m. on June 3, near the intersection of Brundage Lane and A Street. Officers responding to reports of an injury collision found a man lying in the roadway with critical injuries.

Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, but the bicyclist was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet publicly identified the victim. His name will be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office once family notifications are completed.

Investigators said preliminary findings indicate the man was traveling westbound on a motorized bicycle along Brundage Lane when he entered the intersection against a red signal. A woman driving southbound on A Street was unable to avoid the collision.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. Officials do not believe excessive speed or impairment played a role in the crash.

The intersection where the collision occurred includes multiple travel lanes on Brundage Lane, a major east-west corridor with a posted speed limit of 40 mph. A Street runs north and south through the area and carries a posted speed limit of 35 mph.

Witnesses are asked to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
