Manteca Fatal Motorcycle Crash with Truck on Airport Way
MANTECA, Calif. (Oct. 16, 2020) — A Manteca fatal motorcycle crash involving a big rig truck was reported Friday morning on Airport Way in Manteca.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 10:18 a.m. on Oct. 16th in rural San Joaquin County. The drivers of a semi-tractor trailer truck and a motorcycle collided due to undisclosed reasons. The agriculture truck struck the motorcycle rider near Division Road.
Paramedics were summoned to the Manteca crash scene, however, the rider suffered fatal injuries. It’s unknown at this time what direction either of the vehicles were traveling. It’s noteworthy to point out that Airport Way is a two-way road with double-yellow lines and no stop sign, however, Division Road is controlled by a stop sign.
Meanwhile, the San Jose Sheriff’s Office was contacted and the coroner was sent to the intersection.
At this time, it’s unknown if there were any witnesses or surveillance cameras in the area that might help police determine fault for this collision.
Furthermore, the CHP is investigating the cause of the crash and liability.
The CHP incident number is 00145. Witnesses are asked to contact police to help them piece together what happened.
