Woman, 55, Killed in Crash at El Centro Intersection
EL CENTRO, Calif. (August 12, 2024) — Marcela Suarez Aguilar, 55, of El Centro, died in a crash involving a semi-truck and SUV Wednesday at South La Brucherie Road and West Wahl Road in south El Centro.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 9:21 a.m. on August 7th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The El Centro woman was driving a white Nissan Rogue on La Brucherie Road near Wahl Road when she collided with the truck traveling on Wahl Road at the intersection.
It’s unknown which direction the vehicles were traveling, but there are stop signs only for traffic entering Wahl Road from La Brucherie Road.
The 62-year-old Brawley man driving a truck stopped after the collision and cooperated with the investigation.
Paramedics responded and rushed Marcela Suarez Aguilar to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of major injuries, but she later died at 1:04 p.m. the same day.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the El Centro crash.
