Margarita Linares, 87, Killed in Fresno Hit-and-Run Crash on Olive Avenue

FRESNO, CA (July 30, 2021) – Margarita Linares was killed after a hit-and-run crash on Olive Avenue in Fresno.

The coroner’s office identified the 87-year-old Fresno woman as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Thursday night.

The incident happened when Margarita Linares was walking across Olive Avenue using her walker in Fresno. Police said for an unknown reason, a vehicle struck her.

Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and soon found the pedestrian down on the ground. Margarita Linares sustained major injuries as a result of the Fresno crash.

Medical personnel rushed her to the Community Regional Medical Center, where she died. The Fresno Bee and Your Central Valley wrote that the accident occurred on July 29 at around 8:42 p.m.

Family members set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses of the victim.

Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver did not stop to help Margarita Linares and then fled south on Fresno Street. They described the car as a white, older model, Ford Expedition.

Officers added that the lighting was poor along the stretch of Olive Avenue at the time of the crash. The Fresno hit-and-run collision is still under investigation.
