Margarito Corona, 66, Killed in Santa Fe Springs Hit-and-Run on Lakeland
SANTA FE SPRINGS (September 27, 2018) – A pedestrian killed by an alleged hit-and-run driver along Lakeland Road has been identified as Margarito Corona, according to Whittier Daily News and KTLA.
The coroner’s office said the 66-year-old Whittier man was a victim of the tragic collision which was reported on Monday, September 24, at about 7 p.m.
As per the reports, police affirmed that Corona was struck by a vehicle in the area of Lakeland Road and Painter Avenue. He was immediately transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the driver involved did not stop to render aid and fled east on Lakeland after hitting Corona. A witness described the suspect car as an older white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck or similar vehicle and the motorist as a man.
A surveillance video showed that the truck was speeding apparently prior to the incident. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Whittier Police Department at 562-409-1850.
