Margie Urrieta, 57, Critically Injured in Temecula DUI Hit-and-Run Crash
TEMECULA, CA (May 3, 2021) – A DUI hit-and-run crash on the Interstate 15 critically injured Margie Urrieta in Temecula.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 57-year-old Indio woman as the victim of the wreck which occurred on Sunday.
The incident happened when Margie Urrieta was riding as a passenger in a 2014 Dodge Impala. The car was going north on the Interstate 15 in Temecula at the time.
CHP said a 2016 Dodge Dart then hit the Impala, just south of Temecula Parkway. A Nissan Altima, a Ford F-150 pickup and a Jeep Cherokee became involved in the process.
DUI Driver Hits Car on Interstate 15, Flees Scene
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and found Margie Urrieta suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed her to the Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar and listed her in stable but critical condition. They also took the 57-year-old Indio man driving the Impala with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the male driver of the Dart abandoned his car and fled on foot. Authorities located him and determined that he was under the influence when the wreck took place.
They soon arrested him on suspicion of felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury and hit-and-run. Officers forced the northbound I-15 to shut down for a time following the collision.
The Temecula DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
