Maria Alvarado, 39, Killed in Coachella Pedestrian Accident on 10 Freeway
COACHELLA, California (March 6, 2017) — Maria Alvarado, 39, of Blythe died early Monday morning after being struck by a the driver of a Chrysler 200 sedan on the Interstate 10 Freeway, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The 3:49 a.m. crash took place in the eastbound lane, roughly two miles east of Dillon Road.
Someone called 911 and the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene. The motorist who struck the woman was a 57-year-old Lake Havasu City man. It’s unclear why the woman was on the freeway as there was no vehicle located on the roadway.
Police continue to investigate the crash with the help of the involved driver who has been cooperative with authorities. Alcohol and or drugs were not factors.
