DUI Driver in Tulare County Crash ID’d as Maria Bobadilla, 19
TULARE COUNTY, CA (April 19, 2021) – Authorities detained Maria Bobadilla after a fatal DUI crash along Highway 99 in Tulare County.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 19-year-old Earlimart woman was under the influence of alcohol on Saturday.
Officers reported the wreck on April 17 on northbound Highway 99 at Avenue 16 in Tulare County. The incident began when Maria Bobadilla swerved into the oncoming lane.
Her Jeep Gladiator then slammed head-on into a GMC Sierra. CHP said the impact forced both cars into the center median and into the guardrail.
The Jeep rolled over through the median and came to a rest in the southbound lanes of the highway. The Gladiator stopped directly into the path of a Nissan Sentra and a BMW motorcycle.

In the process, the Nissan and the bike collided with the Jeep. FOX 26 News wrote that the two people riding the motorcycle ended up ejected from their vehicle.
An air ambulance took the operator of the BMW to the Kern Medical in Bakersfield, where they died. Paramedics rushed the passenger of the motorcycle to the Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia for treatment of major injuries.
Medical personnel transported the two occupants of the GMC to the Delano Regional Medical Center with moderate to major injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded victims have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP arrested Maria Bobadilla for gross vehicular manslaughter. They also charged her with felony DUI causing injury, and causing great bodily injury to multiple victims.
Authorities soon booked the suspect into the Tulare County Pre-Trial facility. They forced the roadway to shut down for a time following the wreck.
The tragic DUI crash is still under investigation.
