Woman Struck by Suspect is Identified
HUNTINGTON PARK, Calif. (Feb. 2, 2024) – Maria Castellanos, 68, has been identified as the pedestrian struck and killed Thursday morning in a hit-and-run crash in Huntington Park.
The deadly crash occurred at around 2:08 a.m. on Feb. 1st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 68-year-old woman was identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office.
CHP officers responded to the intersection of East Florence Avenue and Pacific Boulevard and located the woman with severe injuries.
Investigators determined Maria Castellanos was crossing Pacific Boulevard when the vehicle struck her and reportedly left the scene, CHP officials said.
Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded and she was pronounced dead on scene.
Meanwhile, authorities reportedly found debris left behind by the suspect’s black car and they are working to locate the driver.
