LOS ANGELES (September 14, 2016) — Maria Covarrubias, 80, has been identified as the woman who was killed in a hit-and-run Wednesday morning at or near the intersection of 80th Street and Western Avenue.
Los Angeles Police Department officials were notified of the incident at roughly 5:30 a.m.
Police officials were dispatched to the scene of the collision where an identified pedestrian woman was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver.
The female victim was seen with a sheet over her body on the right side of the sidewalk from an aerial camera shot by Sky5.
At least one witness was able to inform Los Angeles police authorities that the driver of the vehicle which may have been a black Chevy Avalanche pickup truck was a male and last seen headed southbound along Western.
At this time, the investigation remains ongoing.
