Woman Killed, Man Severely Injured in Crash at San Carlos and Brooklyn
SAN JOSE, Calif. (February 26, 2020) – Maria De Jesus Lopez Curiel, 55, of San Jose, died after being struck by a car in a pedestrian accident at San Carlos Street and Brooklyn Avenue in San Jose.
The collision took place about 7 p.m. on February 22nd in the Parkmoor neighborhood, roughly three blocks east of Bascom Avenue, according to The San Jose Mercury News.
Curiel was one of two pedestrians struck by a 2018 Ford Focus in a marked crosswalk. Curiel was transported to a hospital where she later died, but the man was severely injured in the crash and also taken to a hospital.
The woman driving the car stopped after the collision and cooperated with the authorities.
The cause of the tragic incident remains under investigation.
