SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, California (July 21, 2015) — Maria Del Carmen Villela-Mejia, 61, of Mexicali, Mexico was killed Monday night in a traffic accident involving a big rig truck and a car, a San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner said.
The crash took place at 9:11 p.m. on the northbound US Highway 95. The victim was riding as a front-seat passenger in a 2014 Ford Edge which was heading northbound on the freeway when it veered across a flooded area where it hydroplaned and crashed into a big rig truck in opposing traffic.
Paramedics rushed to the scene of the crash, but the woman died of her injuries at the scene. Police will issue a report with their findings of liability.
