Woman Killed in Highway 160 Crash is Identified
RIO VISTA, Calif. (Jan. 3, 2022) — Maria Inez Lopez Mendoza, 48, of Pittsburg, died in a head-on crash Dec. 29th on State Route Highway 160 at Sherman Island Road in Rio Vista/South Sacramento.
Also, the deadly collision happened at 9:01 a.m. on Dec. 29th, on State Route 160 about half a mile south of Three Miles Slough Bridge, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner.
The drivers of a silver Nissan and a Toyota RAV 4 SUV collided head-on due to unknown circumstances, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol. Both vehicles went off the road and suffered major damage.
Additionally, the CHP report said the SUV overturned in the collision. It’s unknown how many were injured in the collision.
The Solano Fire Department responded to help those hurt in the collision.
