Maria Mata and 2 Others Injured; Angelica Garcia Martinez Figueroa Dead
RIVERSIDE (October 10, 2017) – A suspected DUI crash on El Soberante Road near Lake Mathews killed one and injured four others early Sunday, October 8, according to The Press Telegram.
The accident involving two vehicles occurred at about 1:55 a.m. near Palm Road.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said 24-year-old Kevin McCarthy was driving a 2013 Dodge north on El Sobrante Road when he allegedly crossed the solid double yellow lines and traveled into the path of a 2015 Nissan driven by 55-year-old Long Beach resident Maria Mata.
McCarthy, of Riverside, ultimately struck the Nissan head-on.

Mata and two of her passengers were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. A fourth occupant in the Nissan, 52-year-old Long Beach resident Angelica Garcia Martinez Figueroa, was taken to Riverside Community Hospital where she died.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that McCarthy was also hospitalized and was later arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
The incident remains under investigation.
