Woman Hit by Driver in SUV on Alessandro Boulevard
RIVERSIDE, California (April 20, 2014) — Maria Rutilo Morales, 60, of Perris was killed Thursday morning when a driver struck her while she was crossing Alessandro Boulevard just west of Mission Grove Parkway, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
About 7:40 a.m. on April 17, police say Morales was hit by the driver of a gold 2004 Ford Explorer SUV while attempting to cross at the intersection. She was critically injured and paramedics transported her by ambulance to Riverside community Hospital where she later died about 8:30 a.m., the report said.
Police closed down the roadway to investigate the traffic accident in an effort to assign liability for the accident. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information about the crash is asked to contact Detective Rick Prince at 951-826-8722.
“This is a tragedy for this woman’s family and my prayers go out to them as they cope wth her sudden loss,” said Attorney James Johnson.
