Two Drivers Collide Head-on in Crash on Palm Drive and Camino Campanero

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, California (June 6, 2014) – Maria Soto Caballero, 65, of Desert Hot Springs was killed and three people suffered major injuries early Thursday morning in a head-on car accident at the intersection of Palm Drive and Camino Campanero, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.

Desert Hot Springs police officers responded to the 5:25 a.m. crash involving the drivers of a Toyota Corolla and another Toyota. The two drivers crashed head-on and one of the vehicles burst into flames on its front end. Paramedics transported three people with major injuries to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, the Desert Sun reported.

Desert Hot Springs police are investigating the crash to determine liability.

“My condolences go out to the family of Maria Soto Caballero as they come to terms with her sudden and tragic loss,” said Attorney James Johnson.
