Pedestrian Mariano Pulido, 87, Killed in National City Crash at 24th and Highland
NATIONAL CITY, CA (July 8, 2022) – A pedestrian crash killed Mariano Pulido at 24th Street and Highland Avenue in National City.
The coroner’s office identified the 87-year-old National City man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Tuesday.
The incident happened when Mariano Pulido was crossing East 24th Street to the south at Highland Avenue in National City. At the same time, a Dodge Ram was going north on Highland.
Man Hit by Car
Police said the car then made a left turn onto 24th Street. In the process, the driver failed to yield for the victim and struck him in the crosswalk.
The San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News wrote that the accident took place on July 5 at about 8:20 a.m. Mariano Pulido sustained serious injuries as a result of the pedestrian collision.
Paramedics arrived and soon pronounced him dead at the scene. Meanwhile, police added that the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the man.
Officers forced the area of 24th Street and Highland Avenue to shut down for a time following the incident. The cause of the National City pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
