Maribel Gonzalez and Unborn Child Killed in San Bernardino Hit-and-Run Accident
SAN BERNARDINO (July 12, 2018) – A pregnant woman killed after an alleged hit-and-run accident in the area of Highland Avenue and Medical Center Drive has been identified as Maribel Gonzalez.
According to KTLA and ABC 7 News, Gonzalez was a victim of a deadly collision which occurred late Wednesday at approximately 11:40 p.m.
San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office said the 39-year-old woman was crossing West Highland Avenue at North Medical Center Drive with the traffic light when a vehicle drove through the intersection.
Fatal Pedestrian Accident at Highland Avenue and Medical Center Drive
Police affirmed that the car, described as a dark colored Dodge Charger, was headed west when it allegedly ran a red light at a high rate of speed and struck her. The pedestrian reportedly flung about 50 yards upon impact.
Gonzalez and her unborn child were pronounced dead at the scene. She was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the tragic crash.
