Maricarmen Leon, 27, Killed in Walnut Creek DUI Crash Near Main and Pine
WALNUT CREEK, CA (July 31, 2022) – Maricarmen Leon was killed after a DUI crash near Main Street and Pine Street in Walnut Creek.
Family members identified the 27-year-old Discovery Bay woman as one of the victims in the fatal collision which took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Maricarmen Leon and another pedestrian were standing on the east sidewalk of North Main Street in Walnut Creek.
Police said a pickup truck hit the victims and then slammed into a cement pillar near Pine Street. The Mercury News and KTVU News wrote that the accident occurred on July 30 at about 1:50 a.m.
Driver Hits Pedestrians, Pillar
Maricarmen Leon died at the scene of the collision. The other victim ended up suffering from major injuries as a result of the incident.
Paramedics rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, police determined that the driver of the car was under the influence when she struck the pedestrians.
They soon arrested the woman on suspicion of DUI causing injury, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. The Walnut Creek DUI crash is still under investigation.
