Mariel Castaneda, 26, Seriously Injured in Stanislaus County Crash on Crows Landing
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (June 20, 2021) – A fatal crash seriously injured Mariel Castaneda on Crows Landing Road in Stanislaus County.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 26-year-old Atwater woman as the victim of the wreck which occurred on Saturday night.
The incident happened when Mariel E. Castaneda was driving a 2014 Land Rover Range Rover south on Crows Landing Road in Stanislaus County. At the same time, a 2006 Honda Civic was going north.
CHP said the driver of the Honda, 64-year-old Homero C. Sanchez, veered into the southbound lane. The Patterson man then went directly into the path of the Land Rover.

The Civic slammed head-on into the Range Rover, south of Monte Vista Avenue. The Modesto Bee wrote that the accident took place on June 19 at about 8:30 p.m., west of Turlock.
Mariel Castaneda sustained major injuries as a result of the Crows Landing Road crash. Paramedics rusher her to the Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
Homero Sanchez died at the Doctors Medical Center. Meanwhile, CHP believed that the deceased motorist was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when he struck the other car.
The fatal Stanislaus County crash is still under investigation.
