1 Killed, 1 Seriously Injured in Marin County Crash on Point Reyes Petaluma Road
MARIN COUNTY, CA (December 10, 2022) – A crash on Point Reyes Petaluma Road killed one person and seriously injured another in Marin County.
According to the KRON 4 News and NBC Bay Area, the tragic accident took place on Saturday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at around 1:22 p.m.
The incident happened when a 2000 Subaru Impreza was going south on Point Reyes Petaluma Road in Marin County. At the same time, a 1999 Honda Accord was traveling north.
For an unknown reason, the Subaru spun out of control. The California Highway Patrol said the car then crossed into the northbound lane and into the path of the Honda.
2 Cars Collide
In the process, the front of the Accord collided with the passenger side of the Subaru. The two cars crashed on Point Reyes Petaluma, north of Hicks Valley Road.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene. They confirmed that the 22-year-old Petaluma man driving the Impreza died as a result of the collision.
The driver of the Honda, a 58-year-old Olema resident, sustained major non-life-threatening injuries upon impact. Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, CHP believed that wet road conditions played a role in the incident.
Officers forced a stretch of Point Reyes Petaluma Road to shut down for a time following the crash. The cause of fatal Marin County crash is still under investigation.
