Hayward Man, 22, Killed in Crash on 580 Freeway
ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 8, 2023) — Mario Nunez, 22, of Hayward, was hit by a motorist while standing outside a stopped van on the right shoulder of the Interstate 580 Freeway.
The deadly pedestrian accident occurred around 2:36 a.m. on August 27th, just west of Dublin, according to news reports and the California Highway Patrol.
A driver in a white 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer reportedly veered onto the right shoulder on the westbound 580 Freeway and struck the victim near Eden Canyon Road. Mario Nunez was standing next to a 2021 Ford E-Transit van at the time of the crash.
Investigators are working on the case and are asking witnesses to contact them at the CHP’s Dublin-area office at 925-828-0466.
