2 Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on 110 Freeway in South LA

 Mario Rivera, Stephany Cartagena-Bronfield Fatal 110 Freeway CrashSOUTH LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Aug. 2, 2021) –  Mario Mazariegos Rivera, 43, Stephany Cartagena-Bronfield, 26, both died Sunday in a 110 Freeway crash in South Los Angeles.

The deadly crash happened about 4:40 a.m. on August 1st, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner.

Mario Mazariegos Rivera was driving a 2014 Hyundai Elantra southbound on the 110 Freeway in South Los Angeles. Stephany Cartagena-Bronfield, 26, was a passenger in the vehicle.

Next, a driver in a 2017 Buick Regal struck the Hyundai at Slauson Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The occupants of the Hyundai suffered major injuries and died at the scene, police officials said.

Meanwhile, Dawan Marzett, 30, who was driving the Buick, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
