Brothers Killed in Westlake Village; Rebecca Grossman Arrested
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (Oct. 1, 2020) – Mark Iskander, 11, and Jacob Iskander, 8, have been identified as the brothers who were struck and killed Tuesday night by a suspected DUI driver while crossing Triunfo Canyon Road in Westlake Village.
The boys, one riding a scooter and the other on roller skates, were walking with their parents and two siblings when a car came speeding towards them and struck both boys in a marked crosswalk.
Rebecca Grossman, 57, of Hidden Valley, continued to drive about a quarter of a mile after hitting the children, allegedly carrying one of the boys on the hood of her white Mercedes before she came to a stop. The former publisher of Westlake Magazine and co-founder of the Grossman Burn Foundation, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter after the deadly crash. She later posted $2 million in bail and was released from custody about 12:20 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1. She is set to appear on Wed., Oct. 21 at Los Angeles County Superior Court-San Fernando.
The crash took place at 7:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29th at Triunfo Canyon Road and Saddle Mountain Drive, according to the Los Angeles
County Sheriff’s Department.
The older brother, a sixth grader at Oaks Christian School, died at the scene and the younger boy died a few hours later at a hospital, the sheriff’s department reported. They were crossing a 3-way intersection with their parents and two other family members. The intersection does not have a stop sign or flashing lights. As they saw Grossman’s car approaching, the boy’s parents managed to save two of their children, but Jacob and Mark were too far ahead of them.
Police closed down Triunfo Canyon Road for the investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

Rebecca Grossman, who is the former publisher of Westlake Magazine, is married to Dr. Peter Grossman who is the director of the Grossman Burn Center in West Hills. Peter Grossman is the son of the center’s late founder, A. Richard Grossman. Rebecca Grossman co-founded and is the chairwoman of the Grossman Burn Foundation.
