
Mark Markham, 67, Killed in Jackson Crash on Highway 88
JACKSON, CA (February 3, 2023) – Mark Markham was killed after a DUI head-on crash on Highway 88 in Jackson.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 67-year-old Pioneer man as the victim of the fatal collision which occurred on Monday.
The incident happened when Mark Markham was driving a 2010 Subaru Outback east on Highway 88 in Jackson. At the same time, a 2022 Jeep Compass was traveling at about 50 mph west.
The Jeep then crossed over the painted double yellow lines and entered the eastbound lane. In the process, the Compass struck the Subaru head-on.
Kimberly Snyder, 30, Arrested For DUI
Both cars obtained major front-end damage upon impact, just west of Ousby Road. CHP said the Outback caught fire as a result of the collision.
The Ledger Dispatch wrote that the wreck took place on January 30 shortly before 2 p.m. Mark Markham sustained life-threatening injuries following the crash.
An air ambulance flew him to the Sutter Roseville Hospital, where he died. A passenger in the Jeep, a 10-year-old boy not wearing his seatbelt properly, survived the accident with major life-threatening injuries.
A helicopter airlifted the child to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Compass, Kimberly Snyder, obtained moderate injuries in the incident.
Paramedics rushed the 30-year-old Modesto woman to the UC Davis Medical Center for further aid. CHP soon arrested her after the DUI collision.
The Jackson DUI crash is still under investigation.
