Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Highway 395 is Identified
RIDGECREST, Calif. (May 18, 2022) — Mark A. Strother, 59, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, died in a motorcycle collision involving a semi-truck on Highway 395 in Ridgecrest.
The two-vehicle collision occurred just before 3 p.m. on May 6th, just north of Garlock Road, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.
The motorcycle rider reportedly crashed into the back of a 2008 Freightliner truck due to unknown circumstances. The impact caused the truck’s trailer to lose its load of hot asphalt into the roadway.
Nestor Camp, 24 of Wasco, had been traveling northbound in the Freightliner prior to the collision. It’s unknown at this time why the 2018 Honda Goldwing motorcycle collided with the truck. Indeed, the circumstances leading up to the collision are under investigation by the CHP. Sadly, Mark Strother died at the crash scene.
Witnesses may call Officer Moore at the CHP Mojave Area office at (661) 823-5500.
