Victim of Crash on Grizzly Peak Boulevard ID’d as Marlene Martinez
OAKLAND, Calif. (May 14, 2020) – Marlene Martinez, 28, was killed in a a collision Sunday night on Grizzly Peak Boulevard in the Oakland Hills area.
The woman, who was identified by the Alameda County Coroner, was riding as a passenger in a car whose driver went off the roadway.
The collision took place about 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 10th in the 4300 block of Grizzly Peak Boulevard, roughly a mile north of State Highway 24, according to a report by the Oakland Police Department.
Police say a 23-year-old man was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla was eastbound on Grizzly Peak prior to veering off the roadway, driving through a railing and falling into a ravine.
Martinez, who was a passenger in the vehicle, suffered major injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, the man driving the Toyota was taken to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries.
Police investigating the crash believe that speed may have contributed to the accident.
