Woman Killed, 2 Injured in Rollover Crash
WONDER VALLEY, Calif. (June 19, 2023) — Martha Novoa, 20, of Moreno Valley, died and two people were injured in a solo crash on Amboy Road in Wonder Valley.
The collision occurred around 9:10 a.m. on Friday, June 16th, just east of Twentynine Palms, according to the California Highway Patrol and the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
Arnulfo Salazar, 50, of Moreno Valley, was driving a 2014 Toyota Sienna with at least three passengers including Martha Novoa, Benjamin Nunez, 30, of Moreno Valley, and a 4-year-old child, according to Z107.7 News.
As the minivan traveled northbound on Amboy Road at high speed, the driver lost control in a curve in the roadway just north of Bell King Road, police said.

The Toyota veered over onto the right shoulder, but the driver steered to the left and crossed both lanes before hitting a dirt embankment. The minivan overturned and Martha Novoa was ejected as she was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
She suffered major injuries and was airlifted by helicopter to Desert Regional Medical Center where she later died around 12:55 p.m. on the same day.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Nunez was also hospitalized with major injuries due to not wearing a seatbelt, police said. Arnulfo Salazar suffered moderate injuries.
Paramedics transported them both to Desert Regional Medical Center.
Only the 4-year-old passenger seated in a child safety seat was uninjured. Police do not suspect drugs and or alcohol and they continue to investigate.
