Two Bakersfield Men ID’s as Drivers Killed in July 20th Accident
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (August 8, 2024) — Martin Martinez Gallegos, 52, and Gabriel Martinez Torres, 45, both of Bakersfield, were identified as the two drivers who died in a head-on crash last month on Buena Vista Boulevard, just west of Lamont.
Also, police are investigating whether or not alcohol or drugs were a factor in the deadly crash at 2 a.m. on Saturday, July 20th, just south of Bakersfield, according to KGET.
Martin Gallegos was driving eastbound in a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV and Gabriel Torres was driving westbound in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The two vehicles collided due to unknown circumstances at the intersection with Adobe Road.
Authorities stated both drivers suffered major injuries and died at the scene, but a 39-year-old passenger from the Tahoe survived with minor injuries and was transported to Kern County Medical Center.
The Kern County Sheriff Coroner identified the two men. It’s unknown at this time who was at fault for the collision.
