MARTINEZ, California (July 18, 2016) – A major injury collision occurred Monday afternoon on the northbound 680 Freeway at Arthur Road on-ramp, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch team.
The crash involving a silver Chevrolet Malibu and possibly two more vehicles took place shortly before 5 p.m.
CHP mentioned that the Chevrolet Malibu struck the guardrail and a pole was knocked down in the area. An occupant in one of the cars involved was initially reported to have been trapped inside.
As per the incident log, fire department officials along with the paramedics responded to the scene to attend to at least one seriously injured person and transport the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.
All lanes were reopened as of 6:12 p.m. after a Sig Alert was issued, briefly blocking the Nos 3 and 4 lanes.
Authorities will continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
