SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. (January 13, 2021) – Mary Eskman, 26, of Roseville, died last Friday in a collision on Highway 99 with a suspected DUI driver in the Wilton area.
The collision was reported about 2:20 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9th, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff Coroner.
The traffic accident was set off after an earlier collision between a 2015 Nissan Sentra and a 2015 Nissan 370Z on northbound Highway 99. There were no injuries in the two-vehicle crash that happened just north of Dillard Road. However, Mary Eskman and the other driver both exited their vehicles to exchange information. As they stood in the left northbound lane of the highway, an oncoming 1996 Volkswagen Jetta crashed into the Nissan 370Z and also hit Mary Eskaman. Paramedics confirmed the death of Mary Eskman at the scene.
Meanwhile, police suspected the driver in the Jetta, Jesus Hernandez, 23, of Bridgeport, Washington, was DUI. Police subsequently arrested Hernandez on suspicion of DUI.
The collision remains under investigation.
