Woman, 42, Man, 26, Both Killed in Crash
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Oct. 16, 2023) — Mashea Jordan, 42, and Aphis Nash, 26, both died Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Kiefer Boulevard in Sacramento.
The crash ended a police pursuit of a stolen Tesla when its driver failed to stop for authorities crashed into a minivan occupied by two women, KCRA reports.
Deputies with the Sacramento Police Department began following a stolen Tesla at about 2 p.m. on Oct. 14th in the Arden area, but lost track of the vehicle.
The Tesla was spotted in the sheriff’s department’s jurisdiction and a pursuit began around 2:47 p.m., police said. Several attempts were made to pull the car over, but the driver identified as Aphis Nash reportedly evaded police.
A helicopter located the Tesla and reported it had struck a minivan on Kiefer Boulevard. The minivan landed on top of the car and all three people were trapped.
Two women were trapped in the minivan and were extricated by Sacramento firefighters at the scene, but unfortunately one of them died. She was later identified as Mashea Jordan. The second woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
Meanwhile, the young man in the Tesla also died at the scene.
The case remains under investigation by the Sacramento Police Department.
