DUI Hit-and-Run Driver in Riverside Fatal Crash ID’d as Mason Rodney Howard, 22
RIVERSIDE, CA (April 18, 2021) – Authorities detained Mason Howard after a fatal DUI hit-and-run crash in Riverside.
Police determined that the 22-year-old Laguna Niguel man was under the influence when he killed a pedestrian on Saturday evening.
The incident happened on April 17 when Mason Rodney Howard was driving a red 2003 Ford Ranger east on Mission Inn Avenue in Riverside.
At the same time, a 33-year-old San Bernardino woman, was tending to a small dog that was hit by another vehicle in the roadway.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Her name remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that Howard did not stop to render aid and fled eastbound. Officers soon located and arrested him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and DUI.
Authorities booked the suspect into the Robert Presley Detention Center with a bail set at $1 million. The tragic DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
