COPPEROPOLIS, CA (August 9, 2021) – Mathew Lockett and Richard Kieth were hospitalized after a Copperopolis crash at O’Byrnes Ferry Road and Highway 4.

The California Highway Patrol identified the Modesto residents as two of the injured parties in the wreck which occurred on Monday.

The incident began when 47-year-old Mathew Lockett was driving a 2012 Ford F-150 west on Highway 4 in Copperopolis. He was traveling with 63-year-old Richard Kieth at the time.

A 2006 Toyota Avalon going north on O’Byrnes Ferry Road then entered the intersection with Highway 4. In the process, the Toyota went directly into the path of the pickup truck.

CHP said the front of the Ford F-150 hit the right side of the Avalon. Both cars spun out of control and came to a rest at the northwest corner of the intersection.
