Motorcycle Rider Killed in Crash with Minivan is Identified

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (April 24, 2024) — Matthew Hicks, 39, of Apple Valley, died in a motorcycle versus minivan accident on Highway 18 and Quinnault Road Saturday in Apple Valley.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at about 6:12 PM on April 20, 2024, according to Victor Valley News Group.

The drivers of a white 2016 Toyota minivan and a red 2006 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle collided and were blocking the intersection, the report said. Authorities reported the eastbound motorcycle collided into the side of the northbound minivan when it made a left turn in front of the bike.

Police responded and closed down Highway 18 in both directions due to the collision. Paramedics transported the injured man to St. Mary Medical Center where he later died in the emergency department at 7:09 PM., the coroner reports.

The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is heading up the investigation.
