Arizona Man Killed in Hit-And-Run Crash in Beverly Grove
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (July 19, 2021) – Matthew Thomas George, 26, of Arizona, died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Beverly Boulevard in the Beverly Grove area of Los Angeles, California.
A hit-and-run driver struck the young man walking outside a marked crosswalk about 2:20 a.m. on July 17th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Additionally, police are searching for the suspect and asking for the public’s help.
The Arizona man was walking southbound on Croft Avenue, police said. Also, at the same time, an eastbound white BMW traveling in the number one lane of Beverly Boulevard struck the pedestrian. Upon impact, the man was thrown into the roadway and suffered major injuries.
Meanwhile, the driver in the BMW continued eastbound without stopping to help the victim or calling for help.
Sadly, paramedics pronounced Matthew Thomas George dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

Additionally, the City Council created a Hit and Run Reward Program Trust Fund back in 2015. Therefore, a “reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise,” according to the LAPD.
