Motorcyclist Dies in Hospital After Collision with SUV in Lakeside
LAKESIDE, Calif. (March 13, 2025) — Matthew Vough, 60, of Lakeside, died at the hospital following a devastating motorcycle accident on Los Coches Road on Feb. 15th near Lake Jennings in Lakeside.

The traffic accident occurred around 3:20 p.m. between the motorcyclist and a Range Rover SUV, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
Police reported Matthew Vough, known as “Stretch” to his friends, was riding his bike when the SUV’s driver made a left-hand turn towards Ha Hana Road into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.
The bike crashed into the back of the SUV and its rider suffered major injuries including a severed pelvis and spinal cord injury.
Bystanders called 911 to report the collision and paramedics transported the Lakeside man by ambulance to the Sharp Memorial Hospital Emergency Department.
Doctors treated the patient for multiple blunt force injuries and he was admitted to the hospital. However, his health continued to decline and he lost his fight to survive at 6:54 p.m. on March 5th at the hospital.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault.
