Mattix Salmon Killed in Crash with Semi-Truck on Manning Avenue in Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 31, 2025) — Mattix Salmon, a 19-year-old from Kingsburg, has been identified as the driver killed Monday, Dec. 22nd, in a collision with a semi-truck on Manning Avenue in Fresno County, authorities said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported just after 6:30 p.m. on Manning Avenue east of Riverside Avenue. Investigators determined that a semi-truck driven by Marlon Tavarez of San Joaquin was traveling eastbound when it veered into the westbound lane.

Salmon was driving westbound in a Chevrolet Silverado when his truck was sideswiped by the semi. The impact caused his vehicle to leave the roadway, roll over multiple times, and come to rest on its roof.

Salmon suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. “Mattix was a passionate micro racer whose love for racing was evident both on and off the track,” according to a post by 357’s World of Dirt.

Tavarez was not injured and remained at the scene, where he cooperated with investigators. Authorities said drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
