
Mauricio Gopar, 27, ID’d as Suspect in Petaluma DUI Crash
PETALUMA, CA (January 20, 2023) – Authorities detained Mauricio Gopar after a DUI crash on Adobe Road in Petaluma.
The California Highway Patrol determined that the 27-year-old Petaluma man was under the influence of alcohol when the collision occurred.
The incident began when Mauricio Gopar was driving a Ford Fusion north on Adobe Road in Petaluma. At the same time, a Subaru Forester was going south.
CHP said the suspect then crossed into the southbound lanes. The Argus Courier wrote that in the process, he hit the Subaru head-on.
2 Injured in Wreck
The wreck took place on Friday, January 20, at around 1 a.m. between Lynch and Corona roads. The driver of the Forester, a 65-year-old Fairfield man, sustained major injuries as a result of the accident.
His passenger, a 63-year-old Fairfield woman, obtained minor to moderate injuries. Medical personnel rushed both patients to the Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The report did not release the names of the wounded victims and their condition at this time. Meanwhile, Mauricio Gopar survived the crash with minor injuries.
Medical personnel transported him for further aid. CHP soon arrested and booked Mauricio Gopar into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of felony DUI.
The Petaluma DUI crash is still under investigation.
