Pilot Killed in Shafter Plane Crash at Driver Road, Lerdo Highway
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2021) — Pilot Max Allen Hanner, 62, of Shafter, died in a small plane crash Wednesday morning near the Minter Field Airport in Shafter.
The pilot, who worked for Inland Aviation Inc., worked out of the Shafter airport for some 35 years, according to Jonathan Hudson, the General Manager of Minter Field Airport, Bakersfield Now reports.
The plane went down at North Driver Road and East Lerdo Highway due to unknown reasons.
Witnesses called 911 at 11:56 a.m. on Nov. 3rd, according to the Kern County Fire Department.
KCFD responded to the scene with police and located the small aircraft occupied only by the pilot identified as Max Hanner who died at the scene.
An investigation is underway by both the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
The cause of the small plane crash is unknown at this time.
